AR Rahman praised Parineeti Chopra's singing skills ahead of the release of Amar Singh Chamkila.
For the unversed, the globally renowned musician and Imtiaz Ali are coming together for the biographical drama film.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, the dynamic duo opened up about the lead cast of the movie Parineeti and Diljit Dosanjh.
Speaking of Parineeti's audition for the film, AR Rahman said, "It was not that we didn’t believe that she could sing. I just wanted to know what level of singing she is but she’s so incredible."
The Jab We Met director shared that he first "approached Rahman sir first because I wanted to hold that music post and basically to make the film."
The filmmaker further added, "Then Diljit was the obvious choice but I actually took some time to get to him because I was thinking that it might not work out with him for a few reasons."
He stated, "Parineeti was the first choice. Basically, I needed singers for this part so my range was narrowed down by that. Ultimately, Diljit was the obvious choice. When you watch the film, hopefully, you will realize that."
It is pertinent to mention here that the upcoming film is a biopic based on the tragic murder of the renowned Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila.
The movie is set to stream on Netflix from April 12.
