WhatsApp now allows users to privately mention contacts in Status updates
Meta-owned app's new feature aims to improve user experience
WhatsApp is developing a new feature that allows users to discreetly mention their favourite contacts in status updates.
The users of the Meta-owned application will soon be able to discreetly mention people in Status updates.
Every time a contact is mentioned in a status update, an alert is subtly sent to that one contact only, making sure they know about the mention as soon as possible.
It's important to emphasise that this notice is private. Only the contacts that have been mentioned will receive alerts, protecting their privacy because other users cannot read these mentions.
“By allowing users to mention contacts in their status updates, it generates a greater sense of interaction within specific contacts. This system will ensure that important updates or moments are always brought to the attention of mentioned contacts since a notification is sent directly to them,” wrote WABetaInfo.
“In addition, since these mentions are private, they won’t be visible in status updates, ensuring that they remain discreet and confined to the intended recipients,” they added.
On the other hand, WhatsApp’s swipeable Navigation Bar is also finally official.
For almost a year now, WhatsApp has been testing out an innovative menu bar style. The change, which was first noticed by beta testers, shows how dedicated the app is to adhering to Google's Material Design guidelines, according to WABetaInfo.
