Vicky Kaushal discussed how his movie Sam Bahadur fared against Ranbir Kapoor's Animal at the box office, both released on the same date, December 1, 2023.
During an exclusive interview with The Week Magazine, the 35-year-old actor talked about how his movie did, mentioning that it was like a test match.
When asked if his movie Sam Bahadur, which competed with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal at the box office, lived up to his hopes, Vicky said, “With Sam, we always knew it was a Test match."
"We knew it was not the quintessential masala film that Animal was it had the shock value and one knew it would create waves at the box office,”he added.
The Dunki actor further explained that they knew Sam Bahadur needed time and people talking about it to connect with audiences.
Vicky believed its success relied on how much people connected with the story, no matter when it was released.
Furthermore, the actor shared that he noticed more and more people talking about the film as time went on and he was happy to see the movie still being shown in January, which showed that people were still interested and enjoying it, making him really happy.
