'Animal' dialogue writer upholds Ranbir Kapoor's lines in film: 'have some fun'

The dialogue writer of the movie Animal, Saurabh Gupta, spoke up about the film's ongoing relevance and defended Ranbir Kapoor lines in it.
In an Instagram video shared by Brut India, the Gulabi Lens writer defended the film, Animal during a discussion with Ghazal Dhaliwal at FICCI Frames.
He also emphasized that there is significant pressure on movies nowadays to tackle a wide range of issues, stating that there is immense pressure on movies today to address various issues.
Saurabh also addressed the criticism around Ranbir's dialogue and the portrayal of Abrar Haque as a stereotypical Muslim character.
He said, "In Cinema, to make men understand the importance of sanitary napkins, that smoking and drinking is bad, all of this has become a huge burden. Let's also have some fun.”
Responding to the accusations of Islamophobia in the movie, Saurabh stated, “We felt it fit logically into the script now we are realising that there is this view as well. But the hero (Ranbir) is as much of a demon as the villain (Bobby). And he's a Hindu, but no one said that he was portrayed badly.”
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Animal, was released on December 1, 2023, receiving huge success, with grossing over INR 917. 82 crore.
