'All I ever wanted to be was an artist and now I’m artist with an album of the year!' says Raye

Raye was moved to tears amid her record-breaking wins at the 2024 BRIT Awards.

On Saturday night, the singer-songwriter took home six coveted trophies from the star-studded ceremony at London’s O2 arena.

The 26-year-old performer first netted the gongs for Song of the Year for her hit track Escapism ft. 070 Shake, R&B Act and Best New Artist with a bright smile.

It was during her most major wins of the night, including Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, where she found herself overcome with emotion and couldn’t refrain from crying.

During the historic win, she brought her grandmother onto the stage to acknowledge her contribution to her victories.

"You just don’t understand what this means to me!" the Prada crooner sobbed during the acceptance speech.

"I wanna thank my grandma for her prayers. My grandma is awake till 3 am praying for me and my beautiful sisters, I love you so much," she continued.

"All I ever wanted to be was an artist and now I’m artist with an album of the year! Thank you so much to the Brits, this is too much," Raye added.

The hit maker is now leading the pack with six gongs as the most BRITs won at a single ceremony, a record which was held at four, jointly by Blur in 1995, Adele in 2016 and Harry Styles in 2023.
