Five shows like 'Ginny & Georgia' to watch while waiting for season three

Referred to as the most precise spiritual predecessor of Ginny & Georgia, Gilmore Girls was brought to life by Amy Sherman-Palladino.

In the series, Lauren Graham starred as a single mom in her early 30s and shared a close bond with her gifted teenage daughter, played by Alexis Bledel, half her mother’s age.

For millennials who grew together with the Gilmores, Ginny & Georgia helmed the reality as once identified with the daughter figure, they’re now the same age as the mother.

Led by the directorial chops and writing skills of Kabir Akhter and Mindy Kaling, respectively, this Netflix series revolves around Maitreyi Ramakrishnan stars as Devi, an Indian American teenager who, like Ginny, enters a new phase of her life following a painful event at the opening of the series.

In addition to that, while navigating through the loss of her beloved father, Devi sometimes clashes with her mother, which resembles Ginny’s encounters with her mother.

Based on the Archie comics characters, this horror crime drama has a playful theme featuring a plot with a wild and sometimes supernatural touch.

Starring Lili Reinhart, K.J. Apa, Cole Sprouse and Camila Mendes as the main characters Betty, Archie, Jughead and Veronica, respectively, the drama unfolds as they solve crimes and swap lovers amid insidious darkness, giving away Ginny & Georgia’s Maxine vibes.

Though the vibes of the two shows have a stark variance, the common things are the gothic-comic tone and the monster-mystery plot.

The show, whose first half of season 1 episodes was directed by executive producer Tim Burton, starred Jenna Ortega in the lead role. 

She played the daughter of the iconic Addams family.
