Light-catching shiny hair indicates the good health of your locks, reflecting how well you've taken care of them.
But achieving those shiny and dazzling strands requires some tender, loving care, much like dewy, nourished skin, Real Simple wrote in its report.
What is shiny hair?
The regular use of hairstyle products, showers, and pollutants may all deplete the health and sheen of your hair.
According to celebrity stylist Harry Josh, "A smooth hair cuticle is important for making hair appear shiny because light won't reflect on strands that are damaged and broken."
How to get shiny hair?
- Choose a leave-in over heavy-in-shower conditioner to not weigh in hair down.
- Blast your hair with cold water after washing it to close off the cuticles that open up during hot showers.
- Focus on your scalp, because that's where hair grows from.
- If you think your hair and scalp have a lot of product buildup, then try applying an apple cider vinegar rinse.
- Apply a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove product buildup.
- Trying a hair oil treatment is the fastest way to boost hair hydration levels.
- Brushing your hair daily with a boar bristle brush will naturally produce oil from your scalp, evenly spreading it all over and making it look shiny.
- Dark hair colour reflects light more than lighter hair tones.
- Sleeping on a silk pillowcase will protect your hair from breakage and give it a more glossy look.
- Harmful ingredients such as sulphates strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dull.
