Time and time again Elon Musk the tech billionaire has criticised United States President Joe Biden’s immigration policies.
In recent months he has railed against the issue, visited the border in a live event broadcast on X, formerly, Twitter, and shown his support for Geert Wilders, the radical anti-migration politician in the Netherlands, India Today reported.
He said, "I am very much in favour of hard-working people coming to America, but we can’t have de facto open borders with no screening."
Musk's mother, Maye Musk, recently shared her experience on X with the challenges of obtaining US citizenship, shedding light on the complexities of the legal immigration process.
"I couldn’t get US citizenship even though my father and grandmother were born in Minnesota, and my grandfather, John Elon Haldeman, was born in Illinois," she said. "I was born in Canada so it took me 12 years through visas, green card, lawyer, and numerous medical tests. That’s how hard it is."
In another post, she said, "When we moved to the USA as immigrants, we had to show extreme competencies, pay lawyers, and wait 9 - 12 years to become US citizens. Now young and old can walk into America illegally, and receive numerous benefits which we pay for. Any other legal immigrants think this isn’t fair?"
Both Musk and his mother have been vocal critics of Biden's immigration policies. The tech billionaire accused the US president of intentionally allowing a surge of undocumented immigrants into the country to manipulate the political landscape.
"Biden’s strategy is very simple: 1. Get as many illegals in the country as possible. 2. Legalize them to create a permanent majority – a one-party state," Musk said in a recent tweet.
"What’s the point of being a citizen if an illegal gets all the benefits, but doesn’t pay taxes or do jury duty?" he questioned.
