Turmeric is quite popular with female celebrities for its various health and beauty benefits.

A yellow-orange spice from the same family as ginger, Turmeric is loaded with various nutrients and medicinal properties, which can work wonders for your body.

Bollywood celebs like Sara Ali Khan, Kiara Advani and Shehnaz Gill use this key ingredient in their morning detox drink.

Elaborating on why celebs include this ingredient as part of their diet, the New York City-based nutritionist Brooke Alpert informs US Weekly that it can aid in weight loss since it has anti-inflammatory properties.

“The spice contains the chemical curcumin, which helps decrease inflammation in the body and can also be beneficial for treating conditions that involve inflammation,” states Alpert.

Interestingly, turmeric, which is used throughout Asia for centuries, has now become a staple in the West.

Some Hollywood celebrities like Miranda Kerr, Daisy Ridley love this spice so much that they use it as a face mask.

Global star Priyanka Chopra recently revealed her secret to glowing skin in a video interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

In the clip, the Quantico star mixed turmeric with DIY mask and applied it on her face – a beauty hack she credits to her mother.

Another British model, Jourdan Dunn told Glamour magazine that she applies turmeric mask twice a week for flawless skin.

Some beauty experts agree that turmeric water can boost your skin tone as well as reduces signs of ageing and helps in making you look young.

According to Dr. Kelly Brogan, a Manhattan-based women’s health psychiatrist and author of A Mind Of Your Own, “Turmeric also acts as a powerful antibiotic that can heal you inside and out.”

Speaking to Cosmopolitan Middle East, Brogan dishes out miraculous healing benefits of turmeric, which is known to fight anxiety and help reduce depression symptoms.

Some nutritionists also suggest drinking turmeric water in winter season to boost immunity as well as to protect against pesky viruses and bacteria.

“Turmeric has antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties, making it a global sensation for a healthy immune system,” says Dietitian Vidhi Chawla of Fisico Diet Clinic via Health Shots.

Now, the question is how to make turmeric water? All you need is warm water and a pinch of turmeric.

First, put water in a kettle and let it simmer. Then add a teaspoon of ground turmeric to a glass. When the water is boiled, pour it over the spice and mix it for a few minutes. Wait until it’s lukewarm.

At this point, some nutritionists recommend to incorporate few drops of lemon juice to enhance flavour.

Meanwhile, it’s advisable to visit your local nutritionist or dietitian before adding turmeric water in your daily routine.
