Lionel Messi persuades ex-Man Utd player Marcos Rojo to join Inter Miami: reports
Marcos Rojo has reportedly been contacted by Lionel Messi, Inter Miami manager Tata Martino over the phone
Lionel Messi called Marcos Rojo, a former Manchester United player, in an attempt to make him a part of Inter Miami, as per recent reports on Wednesday.
The legendary Argentine player Messi left Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window to sign with MLS team Inter Miami, which is partially owned by former England captain David Beckham.
Football and Inter Miami have been much more popular in the US since Messi's arrival.
Since then, former Barcelona colleagues Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets have all joined the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.
It was verified last week that Suarez has left Brazilian team Gremio to join Inter Miami.
As of now, Messi is reportedly looking for a different former teammate.
Former United defender Marcos Rojo has reportedly been contacted by him and Inter Miami manager Tata Martino over the phone, according to Hernan Castillo of Continental 590 radio in Argentina.
He called Rojo to try to convince him to sign with Inter Miami.
The 33-year-old Rojo, who formerly played for the Red Devils in the Premier League, is currently a player for the Argentine club Boca Juniors.
He left Portuguese team Sporting Lisbon to join United in 2014, reportedly paying £16 million for the transfer.
The centre-back went on to play 122 games for the Old Trafford team in all competitions, tallying two goals.
Rojo won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield, and UEFA Europa League when he was living in Manchester.
