Karan Johar swells with pride for Alia Bhatt for her evolution as artist

Karan Johar feels proud of Alia Bhatt for her impressive progress as an actress. 

The director of this year’s blockbuster film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, featuring Bhatt alongside Ranveer Singh penned a heartfelt note for the actress. 

Johar wrote, "I hadn’t directed Alia since 2012 and the day she walked onto set in her @manishmalhotra05 plus @mickeycontractor plus #flavian look I knew we had the Rani I had always envisaged…"

Speaking of Bhatt's critically acclaimed film Highway, he further said, "...will always be grateful to Imtiaz Ali for taking her on a highway of life and moulding her into the actor she finally became."

Talking about her impeccable acting skills in the 2023 rom-com, Johar added, "Alia is such a pride and pleasure on a film set…. She had a ticking mind constantly questioning Rani and trying her best to make her strong and yet identifiable and likeable."

The father-of-two said that he doesn’t want to take any credit for Bhatt’s growth as it is “her evolution as an artist.”

"Was blessed to have her as Rani Chatterjee and I do hope her character keeps resonating …. Love you @aliaabhatt," Johar concluded. 

From making her debut in Hollywood with movie Heart of Stone, to becoming the first Indian global brand ambassador for Gucci, the 33-year-old actress ruled the entertainment industry in 2023. 

On the professional front, the actress is gearing up for her next movie tilted Jigra, which she will also be co-producing alongside Dharma movies.

The forthcoming film will hit the big screens next year on September 27.
