Shruti Haasan, while speaking to Untriggered with Aimanjaz, revealed that she was never “into drugs,” adding alcohol was her ‘only’ addiction.
The actress shared her journey to sobriety, offering an insight into dark phases of her life.
The Waltair Veerayya actress candidly talked about her journey, noting that she had a certain craving for alcohol.
"I was never into drugs, but alcohol was a big thing in my life. [After a point] It just didn’t serve me at all anymore, in any positive way. I was [always] hungover, and I always wanted to drink with my friends. So, I felt like it was more in control of me," she admitted.
The Ramaiya Vastavaiya alum shared that it has been eight years since she has been sober.
Previously, Haasan noted that alcohol controlled her to a point where she felt like giving up on herself.
The Veera Simha Reddy actress distanced herself from people that constantly suggested “drinking,” claiming that it helps keep her ‘stable’.
She said: "I’ve been sober for eight years now. So, it’s hard to tolerate people in party situations when you’re not drinking.”
“I have zero regrets, zero hangovers, and it’s just been the best to be sober for me. It might be a phase, or you might like doing it for the rest of your life, that’s chill,” Shruti explained.
The actress is looking forward to her big release, Salaar Part 1, alongside Prabhas, who will be playing the lead role.
