Karan Johar reveals his plans for a potential Hollywood debut
Karan Johar recently received 'Variety International Vanguard Director Award' at Red Sea Film Festival 2023
Karan Johar recently revealed that he has no plans of making his directorial debut in Hollywood as he loves Hindi cinema.
In conversation with Variety, the celebrated Bollywood director shared that he doesn’t want to make films without the language that’s raised him.
The filmmaker said, "I don’t need to make an English film to [win] it. It would be amazing to walk the Academy Awards red carpet, but I would like for it to be with a Hindi-language film."
Johar addressed the misconceptions related to the Indian films, saying, "Yes, we make song and dance movies and we are proud of them, but there are stories made in so many languages and from so many parts of India that are beautiful and should be viewed by audiences."
Later on, the father-of-two expressed his gratitude towards the streaming services, which are helping the Indian filmmakers to showcase their work to the world.
Recently, Johar received a prestigious Variety International Vanguard Director Award for his notable contribution to cinema at the third edition of the Red Sea Film Festival 2023.
The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director said it was a moment of pride for him because he represented his country on a global level.
On the professional front, Johar last directed blockbuster movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.
