Mount Washington summit blanketed in deep snow after winter storm

Though winter hasn't officially showed up, thick layers of snow have already covered the peak of Mount Washington.
The observatory at the top of the highest peak in New England, Mount Washington, released a photo showing snowdrifts several feet deep in some places.
After a recent winter storm dumped 17.6 inches of fluffy snow, the summit broke through the clouds today to reveal a breathtaking view of a sea of clouds below and a dazzling white landscape.
In another photo, the Observatory tower was encircled by an alluring "glory" that resulted from sunlight interacting with water droplets within the clouds.
It is expected that snow showers will continue through Tuesday night and that by late Wednesday, the wind chill will drop to 25 degrees below zero.
Meanwhile, Wednesday morning might bring the first snowfall of the season along the Massachusetts coast. Though it would not be a significant storm, Cape Ann and coastal Plymouth County expect a light dusting to about an inch of snow.
