Ed Sheeran has respectfully declined the opportunity to grace the stage at the highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime show.
This iconic event, viewed by around 100 million Americans, has witnessed extraordinary performances from music industry giants like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, The Weeknd, and Rihanna.
Despite his standing as a peer to these pop luminaries, Ed Sheeran has expressed reservations, believing that his stage presence lacks the requisite "pizzazz" to attract Super Bowl audience.
Speaking on Andy Cohen's Deep & Shallow podcast on SiriusXM, Ed revealed his thoughts, "I think that would be the only way that I would do it is if I was joining someone else."
Like, all of these amazing performers - I’m just not that. I’m not gonna have dancers on stage. I’m not gonna have fireworks and blah blah."
He firmly stated, "I just can’t, that’s not me. I don’t think that anyone wants to see me do the Super Bowl either."
Ed then injected a touch of humor by suggesting he might "wear sparkles" to infuse some extra pizzazz into his performance. However, he quickly clarified, "I think I would do it as a guest."
It has been reported that Ed Sheeran's close companion, Taylor Swift, has also opted out of the opportunity to grace the grandest stage in American professional football.
Taylor's decision is reportedly attributed to her demanding schedule.
