Taylor Swift ex Matty Healy addresses past controversial comments during concert
Matty Healy discussed his past controversial comments while expressing regret over his wild behaviour almost a month after parting ways from Taylor Swift.
During a gig at Finsbury Park on Saturday, The 1975 frontman expressed regret over some things that he has said which did not sit well with his fans.
Healy faced backlash in the past for Harry Styles a “queerbaiter” and for laughing at derogatory comments towards Ice Spice during an appearance on The Adam Friedland Show podcast.
The musician has also been accused of being misogynistic, Islamaphobic, and antisemitic ever since his band rose to fame in 2013.
While addressing the crowd during his recent concert, Healy said there are things he said he would “take back” if he could, as reported by Metro.co.uk.
“The 1975 isn’t a dry band. There’s a lot of irony in it,” he said. “Like, Love Me, for example, it doesn’t make sense unless I’m taking the (expletive) out of myself.”
“I was always, like, trying stuff. And some stuff I got right and some stuff I got wrong,” he continued.
“But, do you know what? There’s a lot of things I’ve said, jokes that I’ve made, you know what, there’s probably a couple of (expletive) songs I’d take back if I had the chance.
“What I mean is that I really am only doing this because I want to make you guys laugh and feel good. That’s what my favourite art does and that’s what I’m trying to do.
“I get a bit excited,” he said before concluding, “And, you know what, I’m (expletive) proud of myself.”
This comes almost a month after his rumoured romance with the Anti-Hero hitmaker ended.
