Man killed in firing incident

PESHAWAR: A man was killed and another sustained injuries in a firing incident in Phase-VI in Hayatabad on Tuesday.There were reports that the security forces had reportedly opened fire that caused the human loss.

A police official, however, said that a tenant and the owner of a house in Phase-VI clashed over the issue of dumping garbage. One person was reported to have been injured and was rushed to the hospital.

The officials said the Frontier Corps personnel arrived at the spot after the firing.“When we reached the spot, we came to know that another person named Basharat was
also hit by a stray bullet inside a cab and he died of wounds. It has yet to be established as to who fired the bullet,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hayatabad, Atiq Shah.

He added that the statement of the cab driver had been recorded. “The cab driver said that he didn’t see as to who fired the bullet,” DSP Atiq Shah added.Some reports said the security personnel opened fire that hit the victims. However, police officials said they were investigating the incident as to whose bullet hit the two victims.
