Cop awarded for ticketing dignitaries

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani awarded cash prize and certificate to a ticketing officer of Traffic Rapid Response Squad for issuing challans to several dignitaries.

The certificate and prize was awarded at a ceremony held at Central Police Office in Peshawar on Tuesday. Since the introduction of Traffic Warden System in Peshawar ticketing officers of Rapid Response Squad issued traffic challans to 6,729 dignitaries on different traffic violations in which traffic officer Rasheed Khan alone issued 3,161 challans.

The dignitaries, who were fined included MNAs, MPAs, ex-ministers, senators, professors, retired judges, lawyers, doctors and other government officers. All these incidents were recorded on secret video camera and are available on social media. Addressing the function, the IGP termed the awardee a role model and asked other wardens to follow the footprints of Rasheed Khan.

It is also encouraging that majority of the violators never complained of misbehaviour. Some of them also encouraged the officer for performing his duty efficiently. The IGP awarded Rasheed Khan with cash prize of Rs10,000 and commendation certificate.
