BANNU: Political leaders from North Waziristan Agency (NWA) Thursday set up a protest camp to force government to meet their demands.
Leaders of all political parties set up the protest camp outside the Bannu Press Club.
Participants of the camp, including Nasrullah Khan, Khan Zeb, Abdul Khalil, Farhad Ali, Shafqatullah and others told reporters that the government had requested the tribespeople to vacate homes to assist the security forces in launching Zarb-e-Azb Operation.
“The government promised facilities and support but left the tribespeople at their own when they left their homes in NWA,” Siyasi Ittehad chairman Abdul Khalil said.
The protesters vowed to continue the drive till all internally displaced persons were sent back to their native areas, reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure and provision of compensation to the affected families.
They also demanded resolving problems of the minority communities in NWA, provision of education and health facilities and jobs to the qualified tribal youth.
