PESHAWAR: No new suspected case of coronavirus was reported anywhere in any health facilities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar.
The KP government had declared emergency in the province due to fear of outbreak of coronavirus and provincial Director General Health Services Dr Tahir Nadeem had made timely measures by nominating focal persons in districts of the province for better coordination. It was apparently due to the better coordination among all the officials that suspected patients admitted to any health facility of the province were immediately reported.
”Due to hyper alert health system as well as general public, we are also receiving and welcoming cases which do not fall into the WHO case definition for coronavirus induced illness. Such cases are either sent home or to relevant health facilities after investigation and counselling,” said Dr Tahir Nadeem, DG health services.
The Health Department has deputed 31 staff including doctors, lady doctors, nurses, paramedics, data entry persons and drivers to facilitate the working of central health establishment of the federal government at the Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar.
One full-time ambulance has been provided to the airport, while 1122 service is also kept at high alert for responding to increased number of cases. According to officials, an additional quarantine area has also been arranged with support from the airport authorities. The Health Department has arranged pick and drop and food for the health workers of the airport.
