LANDIKOTAL : A three-day Under-19 sports trials arranged after the Fata merger for the first time concluded in Khyber tribal district, officials said on Monday.
Khyber district Sports Manager Raheed Gul told The News that they had arranged the trials for different games at the Landikotal, Jamrud and Bara sports stadiums. He said more than 1,000 players from football, volleyball, Kabadi, athletics, tug-of-war and badminton attended the trials. He said around 255 players had qualified for the next round.
Sports Director Tribal Districts Nawaz Khan said Under-19 trials had been completed in all tribal districts. He said sports shoes and kits would be given away to the selected players. The official said a training camp would be arranged for the selected players in Peshawar soon.
