MANSEHRA: A man and his wife were slaughtered in front of their kids in a house in Batdarian area here early Wednesday, police sources said.
They said the couple, who had fled Chelas in Gilgit-Baltistan after tying the knot against the will of their families, had settled in Batdarian area of the City Union Council.
The sources said a group of men having sharp daggers and knives forced their entry into the house of Shahid and slaughtered him and his wife Hasina, the mother of two kids.
Kifayatullah Khattana, a local leader of the Jamaat-i-Islami and neighbour of victim couple, informed policemen about the incident.
A police team rushed to the scene but the killers had managed to escape. Khattana said that family had settled there after leaving the Chelas and developed good relations with local residents.
Mohammad Zeeshan, the in-charge Edhi Centre, Mansehra, told reporters that the bodies were sent to Chelas through their ambulances. The city police after registering first information report launched investigation to apprehend the culprits.
Our correspondent in Nowshera adds: The police Wednesday recovered a bullet-riddled body of a youth, which had been dumped into a seasonal stream in Marhati area, police said.
They said that the local people spotted a body in Palosa Dhand area in Marhati and informed the police. The police said that the police reached the spot and shifted the body to a hospital for autopsy. They said that unidentified gunmen had killed the youth and dumped the body in the stream. They said that the identity of the youth could not be ascertained. The police temporarily buried the body and started investigation into the case.
