BANNU: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Aimal Wali Khan on Thursday said that unrest was created on the soil of Pakhtuns under a conspiracy.
Addressing a public gathering here, he said people were killed in the mosques in the name of Islam and innocent children were killed in schools.
He said they were labelled as agents of Russia when they termed the US war in Afghanistan as ‘fasaad’, adding, in 2002 Wali Khan was declared as Indian agent when repeated the same words. “Our party believes in non-violence and the main concern of Pakhtuns is to see peace on their soil and now it is high time to stop humiliation of Pakhtuns,” he said.
He said that hundreds of elders, mothers, fathers, sons, brothers and sisters were killed and disappeared, adding that Pakhtuns were deceived in the name of jihad and were displaced of their homes and now living in tents and camps.
The ANP leader said those who could not tolerate the prosperity and development of the Pakhtuns were behind creating problems and humiliating them. “Pakhtuns have been divided into various factions in the name of Islam though basically as a nation they are all Muslims,” he maintained.
Regarding the local governments, he said that the provincial government had no courage to announce the next election as it was afraid of getting no support from the ‘selectors.’ He added it could not win even a single seat without the support of the selectors.
ANP former senator Baz Muhammad Khan, Taimur Baz Khan, Sadruddin Khan Marwat, Khurshid Khattak, Shahi Khan Sherani and others also spoke on the occasion.
