LAKKI MARWAT: Two independent district council members announced to join Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) here on Friday.
President Islamic Lawyers Movement Hafi Muhammad Jamshed advocate told The News that the independent candidates Hanifullah Khan was elected from Mela Shahabkhel Union Council and Irfanullah Khan was elected from Abbakhel Union Council for the district council.
He said that a meeting of the elders of the both the union councils was held in which they unanimously decided to join the Jamaat-i-Islami. He said that the third member Ilyas Khan, who was elected from Serai Naurang Union Council, had already joined the Jamaat-i-Islami, adding that the strength of his party would be three elected members and one women reserved seat raising the strength to four in the District Council.
He said that his party members, being in the opposition, would play their democratic role for the betterment and uplift of the area and Jamaat-i-Islami was getting popularity among the people in Lakki Marwat.
He said, “By grace of Almighty Allah, in next local government election the JI would sweep.” He said that all the members of the district government should come up to the expectations of the people to resolve their longstanding problems.
