PESHAWAR: Relatives of a newly born baby, who died in hospital, Wednesday staged a sit-in front of Peshawar Press Club against the alleged negligence of doctors.
Habib Khan, the father of the baby, who led the protest, told reporters that he brought his wife Islam Bibi for delivery to Khyber Teaching Hospital. However, he alleged that the doctors on duty refused to examine the lady and were asking for identity card of her husband who went for a funeral.
After spending three hours in the hospital, they shifted the lady to Lady Reading Hospital where she was operated but the doctors failed to save the baby.Habib Khan said the doctors told him if the lady was operated in time the baby could have been saved. He demanded the authorities concerned to take notice of negligence and award exemplary punishment to the responsible medics.
