MANSEHRA: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has started removing glaciers and landslides from the Rajwal-Naran section of the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road, which has remained blocked for the last three months owing to bad weather.
Speaking to reporters, Seth Matiullah, president of hoteliers association of Naran, said on Sunday the NHA had started removing the glaciers and landsliding from road. He said he was optimistic that Rajwal-Naran section of the MNJ Road would be cleared to light traffic within a couple of weeks.
The road, which was blocked some two months ago due to heavy snowfall and landsliding in the Kaghan valley, was causing inconvenience to the local people who remained stranded in the valley. The heavy machinery to remove boulders and glaciers at the road was taken to Rajwal by the NHA a before start of work which would remained be places there until the road was cleared for the traffic. The tourism season, which starts in mid-June in the valley, attracts a large number of tourists from across country to scenic valley every year.
