Resident oppose water treatment plant construction

PESHWAR: A group of residents on Friday staged a protest against the construction of a sewerage water treatment plant in their area.

The dwellers of Ghari Baloch on Charsadda road and cyclists gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and staged the protest.

They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the decision and favour of their demands.

KP Cycling Association President Nisar Ahmad, Youth Councillor Akbar Khan and others were leading the protesters.

The speakers said the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had approved Rs100 million for the construction of a playground and a state-of-the-art cycling velodrome on the land.

They said the WSSP had signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese firm for construction of a sewerage treatment plant on the said land.

The asked the government to reverse the decision of constructing the sewerage treatment plant.
