NAB arrests WWB officials

PESHAWAR: The National
Accountability Bureau
(NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested Anwar
Majeed, deputy director, and two other members of the Workers Welfare Board (WWB) in illegal appointment case

A press release stated that Anwar Majeed, ex-deputy director (education), and ex-members Imroz Ahmed Zai and Muhammad Zulfiqar Afghani were arrested for alleged involvement in illegal appointment of 2,452 employees including teaching, non-teaching and other staff in Workers Welfare Board.

During the course of inquiry/investigation, it was prima facie revealed that 2936 appointments were made in Workers Welfare Board schools and institutions, wherein 2,452 were illegally appointed.

The candidates were appointed in violation of prescribed criteria, ie overage and unqualified people were appointed without sanctioned vacancies.

The statement said the
accused would be produced before the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining their physical remand and more arrests are also likely.
