Jay-Z accuser makes stunning reversal after assault claims

The accuser in high-profile assault case involving Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs has changed her story, saying her claims about the Encore hitmaker were false.

She first filed the lawsuit in 2024 under the name Jane Doe, alleging she was assaulted by Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and Combs at a party in 2000. Her original case was dismissed in early 2025, after which Carter filed a countersuit against her and her legal team.

Now represented by a new attorney, Doe stated in new court documents that she never met or spoke with Carter and that her earlier accusations were incorrect.

Her lawyer said she was mistaken in identifying Carter and that she sincerely apologises to him and his wife Beyoncé, whom he has been married to since 2008 and shares three children with.

"Our client maintains that she was a victim of sexual assault, but she was entirely mistaken in her allegations identifying Mr Carter, and those allegations were false," read the latest statement, per TMZ.

"Mr Carter did not rape her, sexually assault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him. She sincerely and unconditionally apologises to Mr Carter and his family," added Newman.

In her new filing, Doe explained that she came across an online ad seeking people with possible sexual assault claims connected to Combs. That led her to a law firm, and eventually to the attorneys who filed her original lawsuit.

She claims she was never shown a draft of the complaint before it was submitted and that she began doubting her own memories of the incident by early 2025.

Her former legal team pushed back on her new account, saying she had reviewed and confirmed her allegations multiple times, including through several signed affidavits and conversations with multiple attorneys.
