Ed Sheeran gets support amid backlash over Macklemore's removal

Ed Sheeran is under fire over the Macklemore controversy, but Aaron Rowe says it's not the singer's fault.

His statement matters because he was one of the opening acts that quit after the Grammy-winning rapper was dropped.

But now he defends the Shape of You singer, writing, “I think you are all focusing on the wrong person here. All I keep hearing is Ed Sheeran this, Ed Sheeran that."

In the video message he shared on Instagram, the singer further added, "When you really should be focusing on the likes of Robert Kraft."

Though Rowe did not excuse Sheeran, stating, “Look, I know Ed’s statement could have been a lot better, and I do think that Macklemore shouldn’t have been pulled off the tour."

He blamed this on the panic the singer and his team felt as pressure mounted over Macklemore's statement.

"I fully believe it was panic station over there, and they rushed the decision because they didn’t know what to f***** do because they were getting it from all angles."

"That’s a mistake… I haven’t had a chance to fucking talk to Ed too much, but I fully believe he knows that was a mistake," he said.

Rowe's statement comes as Sheeran has been in the throes of the controversy that ignited after Macklemore was dropped from his U.S. leg of the Loop tour.
