Piers Morgan warns about 'open royal war' after Earl Spencer remarks

Outspoken journalist Piers Morgan has shared a few lines from Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer’s book about sister days after King Charles strongly reacted to the claims.

King Charles has taken the rare step of hitting back at criticism after Princess Diana's brother alleged that the monarch acted insensitively following her death in a car crash three decades ago.

The war of words between the king -- who was married to Diana for 15 years -- and Charles Spencer featured on the front pages of several UK newspapers on Thursday.

Palace issued an unusually strong statement after Spencer claimed in his new memoir that days after Diana died in 1997 the future king said to him: "Rest assured, we'll forget her soon enough."

The palace spokesperson said late Wednesday they do not normally comment on books, before adding: "His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."

Now, Piers Morgan took to X, formerly Twitter handle and shared few lines from the book of Earl Spencer.

Morgan tweeted, “My god.. these two lines from Earl Spencer’s book on Diana. Hard to imagine more incendiary claims, or ones more deliberately aimed to harm King Charles’ reputation. This is open Royal war now.”
