Carlos Sainz signs multi-year deal with Williams F1 team

Carlos Sainz has reportedly signed a new contract with the Formula 1 team, marking a significant move to stay with the Williams team into 2027 and beyond.
This move keeps the seasoned driver with Williams as the team continues to move forward for a better future.
The 31-year-old Spaniard joined them in 2025 in the trust they would fulfill their goals of being challengers in Formula One again. Sainz has decided to sign a multi-year contract extension despite his current deal ending this season.
The statement from Sainz reads: “I truly believe in the people that form this team, both at the factory and at the racetracks, and the investments and hard work that are happening in the background."

Sainz has given preference to Williams for 2025, passing up an opportunity to step into the spotlight of the Audi team which makes its debut this year, after the acquisition of its Swiss Sauber outfit.
Team principal James Vowles emphasized that managing the new vehicle launch pressure for the revised 2026 is a key task, but he believes subsequent changes put the team in a better place for a bright future boosted with Saniz’s extension.
