Barcelona have reportedly completed the signing of Rodri from Manchester City in a deal worth around £65million.

The 30-year-old has successfully signed a four-year contract signaling his return to Spanish football for the first time since 2019.

Rodri leaves City after seven seasons at the club with making 298 appearances and won 12 major honours such as Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups and the Champions League in 2023.

The final two seasons of Rodri at the club were compromised but he returned to his best form for this summer’s World Cup.

Real Madrid made a significant decision to sign Rodri as he entered the final 12 months of his city contract.

Earlier, Rodri was interested in returning to Spain this summer rather than extending his contract with City, and the midfielder has been willing to listen to other views from either of the Laliga giants.

According to Madrid, Rodri’s signing is now complicated in rising competition from Barcelona, but the club are willing to make one last effort

Notably, Real Madrid lost interest and City rejected Barcelona's opening offer of £38.5m before an agreement was eventually finalized. Rodri further stated playing for the Catalan side is actually a dream come true.

He performed incredibly at the tournament, winning the Golden Ball as the best player despite struggling with fitness since suffering an ACL injury in September 2024.
