Neymar sparks latest controversy after Santos triumph: What really happened?

Brazilian football star Neymar has once again caught in fresh controversy after staging provocative actions following their successful Copa do Brasil match against Remo.

After defeating the opposite team in the match and leading them out of the tournament, Santos forward Neymar suddenly lost his temper and openly mocked Remo president, players and coaching staff and shouted humiliated insults.

According to Brazilian outlet Metropoles, Neymar shouted: “Eliminated! Eliminated!”

Fans and eyewitnesses on social media slammed the star's behaviour as petty and unsportsmanlike, arguing that a seasoned veteran should have shown more respect to a defeated opponent.

Response of Remo President

The insulting and provocative stunt by Santos’ star drew harsh criticism from the president of Remo, calling him “bum” and accusing him of showing total disrespect. He argued that Neymar did not need such antics as it is going to set a bad example for the children who idolize him.

Therefore, society should stop turning such arrogant footballers with humiliating attitudes towards opponents into idols.

“And this bum Neymar, who is idolised by a bunch of children, who did his antics here, still came to provoke. So, we are guilty of idolising a bunch of bums like this guy,” Remo chief said.

The netizens also expressed disappointment over such unprofessional behaviour. One commented, “Just retire please…”
