MARDAN: Panic spread among students of the Government Centennial Model High School No. 2 for Boys Mardan on Saturday after a student opened fire inside the premises, police sources said.
The sources said that Khan Bacha, the school principal, wrote a letter to the officials of City Police Station, stating that a student of 10th grade, identified as Farhad, son of Nowsher Khan, was appearing in the SSC annual examination when he reportedly left the examination hall at around 11:17 am, and soon returned carrying a rifle.
The student forcibly entered the school premises and fired multiple rounds, causing fear and chaos among students and staff, the principal said. No casualties were reported in the firing.
The SHO of City Police Station Mardan was requested in the application to take necessary legal action in accordance with the law and maintain security in and around the school to prevent such incidents in future.
