LANDIKOTAL: A former Member of the National Assembly Shah Jee Gul Afridi has called for transformative projects in education, health, and job creation across all merged districts to address the sense of deprivation among the tribal population.

“If chief minister-designate Sohail Afridi succeeds in these vital sectors after assuming office, his name will be remembered for a long time,” said the politician from the Khyber district while talking to this correspondent.

Shah Jee Gul Afridi said that Sohail Afridi must ensure the merged tribal districts receive their rightful share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and that peace is restored in the region.

He described the Fata merger as the result of decades of struggle and sacrifices by the tribal people, adding that the likely selection of a chief minister from the tribal Khyber district was a good omen.

Shah Jee Gul Afridi advised Sohail Afridi to seize the opportunity and work for the progress and prosperity of the tribal people once he assumed office. He said development alone was not enough to serve the people, as peace must remain the foremost priority.“The tribal people have endured the worst consequences of terrorism and instability. Without peace, the dream of development will remain unfulfilled,” he pointed out.
