Three killed as mine collapses in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: Three miners lost their lives and three others were injured when a phosphate mine collapsed in the Malikan area of Rajoiya, Abbottabad district, on Tuesday.

According to reports, the workers were engaged in excavation at a mine owned by contractor Nawab Ali when the structure caved in, burying six men under the debris.Rescue teams reached the site and, after a prolonged operation, recovered the bodies of three miners identified as Muzzammil, Miftah, and Shoaib, all residents of Gilgit.

The injured including Zia, Naveed, son of Khawaja, and Anjum, son of Javed, both from Malikan, were pulled from the rubble and shifted to a nearby hospital. Police and rescue officials remained at the site, while an investigation was launched to determine the cause of the collapse.
