NOWSHERA: Adviser to the Chief Minister on Health Ehtesham Ali on Monday expressed displeasure over administrative, financial, and medical irregularities in the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Nowshera.

Following public complaints, the adviser paid a surprise visit to the DHQ Hospital where the patients and their attendants lodged complaints about the unavailability of medicines, drip sets and out of order generators.

Upon seeing the pathetic condition of the hospital, the adviser warned the Medical Superintendent (MS) and the entire staff to make the hospital properly functional or else strict departmental action would be taken against negligent and idle employees.

He also visited various departments, including wards and the emergency unit. The adviser was informed about faulty generators, unavailability of life-saving medicines and even lack of basic items like syringes, drip sets and allergy medicines.

He was told that the MS often arrived at the hospital around noon instead of during duty hours and that many doctors referred patients to their private clinics instead of treating them at the hospital.

The adviser expressed outrage at these revelations and issued a three-day ultimatum to improve the hospital’s administrative, financial and medical affairs. He warned that if irregularities were not corrected within this period, strict action would be taken against all negligent and corrupt employees, saying those who shirked work, engaged in corruption, or neglected their duties did not deserve any leniency.
