Two Rescue 1122 personnel martyred during operation

KOHAT: Two Rescue 1122 personnel embraced martyrdom while attempting to save a coal miner trapped inside a mine at Darra Adamkhel in the wee hours of Friday, officials said.

rainwater and gas accumulated inside the coal mine. Acting swiftly, a Rescue 1122 team reached the site and launched a rescue operation.

Both rescuers descended into the mine to reach the trapped worker, but the buildup of gas and hazardous conditions proved fatal during the operation.The two rescuers, Roohul Amin and Salahuddin, along with the miner, lost their lives.

The miner hailed from Shangla.The bodies of the victims were later recovered and shifted to a nearby hospital.The funeral for two Rescue 1122 personnel were offered with official honours in their native areas of Darra Adamkhel and Adezai.

They were laid to rest at ancestral villages with state honours. A smartly turned-out contingent of Rescue 1122 presented a salute to the martyrs.Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, Director General Academy Dr. Khateer Ahmad, Director Operations Dr. Mir Alam, Director Operations South Imran Khan Yousafzai, and Senior District Emergency Officer Kohat Muhammad Arif Khattak, along with other officers of Rescue 1122, laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ graves and paid tribute to their sacrifice.

The funeral was attended by the Kohat division commissioner, additional deputy commissioner Relief, assistant commissioner of Darra Adamkhel, local dignitaries, police officials

and a number of Rescue 1122 personnel and residents.
