Cycle race held as part of I Day celebrations

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A cycle race was arranged as part of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations here on Saturday.

The race titled the “Battle for Truth Independence Day Cycle Race” was organised by the Al-Buraq 40 Division where prominent cyclists from various cities across the country participated with great enthusiasm.

The event began at the Yarak Interchange and concluded at the historic Chahkan Fort, covering a challenging 44-kilometer route.

The race tested the cyclists’ skills, stamina and determination where the athletes faced intense heat and scorching sunlight. People accorded warm welcome and boosted the cyclists’ morale.

According to the results, Sanaullah Khan performed well to secure first place, along with a cash prize. The runner-up, Umar Farooq, also received an award, while Sajid Zia claimed third place and was awarded a cash prize. All prizes were distributed during the closing ceremony.

The closing event was attended by civil and military officials, local elders, families of the athletes, and a large number of citizens.

Chief guest Major General Neknam Muhammad Baig praised the cyclists, saying that sports were great means of promoting peace, unity, and brotherhood.
