Terrorist killed in police encounter

KOHAT: An alleged terrorist, who had escaped from the police, was killed in an encounter with the police on Friday, an official said. Regional Police Officer of Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat told media that a militant had shot and injured a police official Khalil serving as muharrar at Dabri Police Station.

He said that Khalil sustained injuries to his leg and arm and was rushed to Mishti Hospital, where he was under treatment and stated to be stable.He said the assailant belonged to banned Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan Orakzai group and was identified as

However, while being transported from Dabri Police Station to the CTD Office in Kalaya, the accused managed to escape by jumping out of the police vehicle and fled towards the nearby fields.

The policemen chased him and during the attempted arrest, he opened fire on the cops.In the ensuing exchange of fire, the accused sustained gunshot injuries and was killed on the spot.It is pertinent to mention that Muharrar Khalil had received threatening calls from the banned TTP in connection with an FIR lodged a month ago.
