ABBOTTABAD: Students from Abbottabad city and nearby rural areas are facing difficulties in obtaining domicile certificates due to complications with the new online application system. The website, instead of being a convenience, has become a source of immense frustration for applicants and their parents. The Domicile Branch in Abbottabad is witnessing heavy crowds as students line up with parents to secure the documents, a requirement for college admissions after the matriculation results. The new e-domicile system requires uploading documents online, but frequent website crashes and high traffic have made the process arduous and time-consuming. Students often spend hours at internet cafés trying to access the website. Many are forced to return without success due to the website’s failure to upload essential records.
This has particularly impacted students from remote villages, who are facing not only delays but also financial strain due to repeated visits. Majeed Gul, who recently passed his matriculation and intends to get admission in college, said that he had come from Tarmuthian, a remote village of Berote Union Council to apply for a domicile certificate.
He complained he failed to even apply despite staying in Abbottabad for the last two days. Similarly, another student, Mujeeb, had a similar complaint to make. He is a resident of Lora, another remote area of the district.
