CHARSADDA: About 196 kanals of commercial government land was reclaimed in Tehsil Tangi’s Barah Zai area, officials said on Thursday. They said that the reclaimed land, which had been under illegal occupation for several years, was valued at over Rs592.5 million.

According to Assistant Commissioner Tangi, Waqasur Rehman, the land was originally owned by several government departments, including the Department of Sports. Over time, he said, the local residents had encroached on the property, establishing permanent structures and cultivating crops on large portions of the land. The district administration of Charsadda, the Anti-Corruption Department and police carried out a decisive operation to demolish the illegal encroachments and return the land to official government possession.

“The land had been unlawfully occupied for many years. Our administration, with the help of the Anti-Corruption Department and police, has recovered it successfully and placed it back under government control,” said Waqasur Rehman.
