Unsanctioned posts: DHO Mardan sacks several employees

MARDAN: The District Health Officer (DHO) Mardan has terminated several employees who were appointed without vacant or sanctioned posts, sources said. Sources added that in the previous PTI government, former district health officer (DHO) Dr Kachkol allegedly appointed several employees against different posts in the Health Department. Sources added that later an inquiry was conducted according to which the employees were illegally appointed. DHO Dr Shoaib Khan issued termination orders of eight drivers including Fawad Iqbal, PBS-06 Rural Health Centre (RHC) Charbanda presently working at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Toru,

Mardan, Zahir Ali, driver Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Katlang presently working at RHC Gumbat, Amjad Ali, driver THQ hospital Takhatbhai, Muhammad Tahir Shah, driver RHC Garyala presently working at DHO office, Arshad Ali, driver RHC Bakhshali presently working at DHO office, Majid Khan, driver THQ Takhtbhai and Muhammad Ejaz, driver THQ hospital Takhatbhai.

It was stated in the notification all these employees were directed to return all government property in their possession including official documents, equipment, vehicles and settle outstanding dues before leaving the health facility.

Sources added that the appointments were made in violation of official procedures with no approved positions available in the respective cadres. An internal investigation found that certain officials had misused gender-specific position codes-meant for Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) to draw salaries for ineligible appointees.
