Tom Cruise has recently split from Ana de Armas after nine months of dating, marking the latest in a list of his short-lived relationship.
Sources reveal to Radar Online that the Top Gun’s current breakup followed a similar pattern of “intensity and control” that strained his romances be it with Ana, Hayley Atwell, Sofia Boutella and Vanessa Kirby in the past.
It is pertinent to mention that Ana’s relationship started earlier this year after they met for the latest movie, Deeper but Warner Bros. cancelled production in August.
An insider close to the actor said their connection was “immediate and intense,” with Tom acting as both a romantic partner and mentor, introducing Ana to Scientology and helping navigate her Hollywood career.
A film industry source stated, “They clicked right away, but when the film collapsed, so did the relationship.”
“It follows a familiar pattern with Tom – he throws himself in completely, and soon everything starts to orbit around his work and his beliefs,” continued a source.
The source notes that at first, “it's intoxicating, then it wears people down. Ana admired him deeply, but she realised she couldn't live inside that intensity forever”.
Looking at the same pattern in his past romances, one Hollywood insider pointed out, “Tom can be incredibly charismatic, but he's also meticulous to the point of control.”
“He treats his relationships much like his work – structured, strategic, and tightly managed. At first that level of focus is intoxicating, but over time it starts to feel stifling,” added a source.
As one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Tom still finds it risky to find a lasting relationship in this Tinseltown.
Tom has reportedly been married three times: first to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, second to Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001 and third to Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012.
Besides his marriages, the Mission: Impossible star has dated A-list celebrities including Cher, Heather Locklear, Penelope Cruz and many others.
Tom’s Cruise's first celebrity girlfriend was none other than Melissa Gilbert, who claimed in one of her interviews, that she was “16 maybe or 17 when they were together.
Another celebrity he dated was Cher, who he first met in 1985 at Madonna and Sean Penn’s Malibu, California wedding. Their brief romance remained mostly private.
Later, Vanilla Sky costars Tom and Penelope went public with their relationship in August 2001, which the actor revealed was “special” to him. However, they split two years later in January 2004.
Back in 2005, Tom fell for Katie and tied the knot in a sunset ceremony at Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy, on November 18, 2006 after they welcomed Suri Cruise on April 18, 2006 in LA.
Unfortunately, the relationship ended in June 2012 and she petitioned for primary custody of Suri.
After some short flings, he then began dating Ana earlier this year but now the actor ended his short-lived relationship.
For now, Tom has surrounded himself with work as a sequel to Top Gun: Maverick is in early development.
Meanwhile, industry insiders wonder if Tom will ever find someone special in his life for a long-term in wake of his controlling behaviour. Time will tell.
