The 007: First Light game, developed by IO Interactive, is set to release on March 27, 2026. The news was confirmed during a special Sony State of Play event, which showed over 30 minutes of gameplay.
The game story shows a young James Bond on his first mission to earn “00” status, which gives him a license to kill. He tries to catch a rogue agent 009. Mission will take you to different locations, like a chess tournament in Slovakia and a gala in London.
Martin Emborg, the cinematic and narrative director, commented on the game’s story, “I think first and foremost, this is the story of a young man who steps into a new world… He steps into this world of shadows and of his future.”
The new James Bond is a fresh take, portrayed as “young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless.” Patrick Gibson did the voice-over and motion capture.
The classic characters were introduced, like M, Q and Miss Moneypenny, who have been reimagined for this new story.
A creative approach has been adopted in the gameplay, which allows you to choose your own path. The player can be sneaky and use stealth to complete the missions without being seen, or you can go in with guns blazing in action-packed fights.
Developers at IO Interactive talked about Bond’s gadgets, “We want them [gadgets] to feel like natural extensions of Bond’s skillset, not just one-off tricks.”
The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The standard digital edition costs $69.99
