PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Monday awarded the Karak Police officials for recovering the money looted from the employees of a Chinese oil and gas exploration company.
The cops were honoured at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office Peshawar, said an official statement. An accountant of the company was carrying salaries of the employees when he reached Algada Sarobi, one Abdul Shaheen, who had remained a worker, armed with a Kalashnikov along with other four unknown persons intercepted the vehicle. He snatched Rs15,22,000 from the staff.
On receiving the information, the police put up a barricade on the Bannu-Kohat Road. An encounter took place between the police and the robbers. The police arrested the main accused in injured condition and recovered the money from him.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP appreciated action by the Karak Police and added that the credit went to the district police officer and his team. The IGP awarded Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Banda Daud Shah Muhammad Nazir, Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Gul Shahbaz, Sub-Inspector Muhibullah, Head Constable Faizullah and Constable Nasrullah with cash prizes and commendation certificates.
