Princess Kate and Prince William gave a warm and elegant welcome to President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, as their official State Visit to the UK began this morning.
Touching down at RAF Northolt just after 11:00am, the French First Couple were greeted with full pomp and pageantry.
A Carpet Lining Party, formed by the King’s Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force, stood to attention on the airport apron, setting the tone for the ceremonial grandeur to follow.
Waiting at the foot of the aircraft steps was the French Ambassador, who officially welcomed President and Mrs. Macron before they were met by the Prince and Princess of Wales, representing King Charles.
With smiles, handshakes, and a shared sense of occasion, the two couples exchanged warm greetings.
After their elegant arrival at RAF Northolt, President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron were introduced to a distinguished lineup of British dignitaries, underscoring the ceremonial importance of their State Visit.
Among those welcoming the French couple were Sir Kenneth Olisa, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, and Mrs. Kathryn Colvin, Special Representative of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
They also met Sir Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, and Group Captain Jonathan Hough, Station Commander at RAF Northolt.
The introductions continued with members of the British Suite specially appointed to accompany the Macrons throughout their visit.
These included the Viscount Brookeborough, K.G., serving as Lord-in-Waiting, and Dame Menna Rawlings, His Majesty’s Ambassador to France.
Later this afternoon, Princess Kate and Prince William will step into a leading role as they join King Charles and Queen Camilla to officially welcome President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the Royal Dais on Datchet Road in Windsor.
To mark the momentous occasion, a Royal Salute will echo across Windsor's Home Park and from the Tower of London.
As the procession reaches Windsor Castle’s iconic Quadrangle, the Macrons will be honoured with a formal Guard of Honour.
The regimental band will play both the French and British national anthems, symbolising unity and respect between the two nations in this regal celebration of friendship and diplomacy.
