Mahershala Ali dodges question about Marvel ‘Blade’

Mahershala Ali declined to discuss Marvel's Blade reboot.

Blade, starring Ali, is a comic book adaptation about the day-walking vampire hunter that has been in production limbo for the past six years.

In an appearance on Vogue's Off the Cuff, alongside his Jurassic World Rebirth co-stars Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson, Ali avoided the question when Bailey asked how many Marvel films they’ve both starred.

"Leave me out of it," Ali joked. "That's a Scarlett question."

However, Bailey quipped, "Well, there's one that we're very excited about," referring to the Blade.

This is not first time Ali was asked about the reboot, previously, during the Jurassic World Rebirth premiere in New York he said, "Call Marvel. I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready."

When the film was first announced in 2019, it met with quite lot of problems like actors and directors constantly being changed.

Nevertheless, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige said at D23 Brazil 2024 that he was "committed" to bringing Blade back to the big screen.

"We love the character. We love Mahershala's take on him," Feige said. "And rest assured: whenever we change direction with a project, or are still figuring out how it fits into our schedule, we let the audience know."

As of now Marvel studio is busy filming its most anticipated and star-studded film, Avengers: Doomsday which is set to release on December 18, 2026.
