Henry Golding offers major update on 'Crazy Rich Asians' sequel

Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding has recently offered major update about the sequel of the show.

Speaking to Extra at the Old Guards 2 premiere in Los Angeles on June 25, the Nine Perfect Strangers actor reportedly confirmed that Crazy Rich Asians 2 is in the works.

Henry informed that he received a text from Adele Lim today, who is also the co-writer of first series.

She told actor that the production house has currently been in the writing process.

For the unversed, the first show was released in 2018 and the story revolves around a professor Rachel (played by Constance Wu) dates a man names Nick (played by Henry) and looks forward to meet her boyfriend’s family.

To her surprise, Constance character is all shaken up when she gets to know that Nick belongs to one of the richest families in Singapore.

While discussing the sequel’s next step, Henry revealed that the production team are “sorting out, they are getting the kind of pilot episode and trying to see where all the series take it”.

A Simple Favour actor pointed out, “I think if they can get the crew back together, which I know for a fact, they are talking to and they want to shoot in April.

When a journalist asked if he’s doing it, Henry responded, “Everything has not been set in stone so there’s still lots of moving parts and hopefully we can get it going.”

In a separate interview with E! News, the actor mentioned that Adele is “our showrunner. She was one of the writers in the first one with Peter Chiarelli”.

“She came over to London maybe four weeks ago to see me and Gemma [Chan] to talk about our characters. So, things are happening,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, director Jon M. Chu added that the sequel will happen in an episodic format and he won’t bring everyone back unless the script is worth it.
